I’m so in the Kath & Kim cult
US singer ‘obsessed’ with Aussie TV classic
American country singer Morgan Wade has revealed herself as a fan of cult favourite Aussie comedy Kath & Kim.
Drew Barrymore, Michael Buble and Paris Hilton have also previously raved about the show.
“I’m obsessed with Australians, Kathy & Kim is my favourite show, Wade told Confidential at the recent premiere of Yellowstone spin-off, Dutton Ranch, in New York.
Wade can rattle off lines from the show too.
“Look at me, look at me,” she said in her best Aussie accent. “I mean, that’s the only one, but like the ‘baby cheeses’, everything on that show is so iconic. I’m obsessed.”
Wade, 31, makes her acting debut in Paramount+ series Dutton Ranch, the much anticipated Beth and Rip story following on from Taylor Sheridan’s global hit Yellowstone.
“This is super new for me, and I was extremely nervous my first day going in there, but everyone’s super amazing,” explained Wade, who famously dated Kyle Richards of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fame.
“I got to watch Kelly Riley (Beth) and Ed Harris (Everett McKinney) do these scenes with me, that’s amazing. I could die, and I’ve lived a very successful life after that.”
While Yellowstone was shot in Montana, Dutton Ranch was filmed in Texas as Beth and Rip set up a new life.
“I don’t live a very dramatic life, but as far as the western aspect of it and the cattle and everything, I’d pretty (is is) spot-on,” she said when asked how close to real life country the series is.
Two Australians appear in Dutton Ranch, rising star Finn Little and established actor Jai Courtney. The series also stars Annette Bening, Juan Pablo Raba, Natalie Alyn Lind and of course, Cole Hauser, as Rip.
